The problem with plastic that’s leaching into cbd products

The Clean Label Project Purity Award goes beyond company claims to determine how safe CBD supplements actually are.

CBD products are becoming more accessible, making it easy to find products as you scour the shelves of your local drug stores.

And while you may be able to find CBD locally, do you know if these products use clean ingredients?

Ingredient labels help, but labels don’t include environmental contaminants that may be introduced during the manufacturing process. Not only that, but many CBD brands aren’t committed to developing safe products. They care about making a quick buck and not about their customer’s long-term health.

This can make a big difference in how products work within our bodies. And since CBD is well known for its homeostatic potential — contaminants and other harmful additives can hinder our journey to achieving overall wellness.

These are all reasons why one nonprofit organization is shaking up the CBD industry to ensure brands are 100% transparent about their ingredients.

what is the purity award?

The Clean Label Project Purity Award goes beyond company claims to determine how safe CBD supplements actually are.

The Clean Label Project™ was founded on the belief that consumers are entitled to know exactly what they are putting in and on their bodies. And since the FDA is still working on many unanswered questions regarding the science of CBD, it’s important for consumers to know they are getting a product with pure ingredients they can trust.

Contaminants like pesticides, heavy metals, and chemical residues can be introduced throughout manufacturing. These toxins affect our health and wellbeing, and certainly won’t help us achieve our wellness goals.

how does the Clean Label Project™ test cbd products

The Clean Label Project™ randomly purchases products from a variety of retailers, including brand websites, local shops, and Amazon.com. The buying process replicates a true consumer-shopping experience to guarantee unbiased results.

Products are sent to an ISO-accredited laboratory where they undergo rigorous testing. CBD products are tested for metals, pesticides, residual solvents, and THC.

The data obtained through testing is compared to the overall test results within the category. Only the top 33% qualify for the Clean Label Project™ Purity Award.

It’s not enough to just be in the top 33%, though. Brands must stay compliant to hold on to this award. The Clean Label Project™ continues ongoing sampling and testing to ensure each brand is committed to developing products that are pure and free of harmful toxins.

what do the Clean Label Project™ certifications mean for cbd users?

It’s well-known that CBD products are not yet backed by the FDA. This means it’s up to each company to develop high standards and ensure their products are safe.

Only companies that truly care about their customers go the extra mile to set high standards and commit to third-party lab testing. While these lab reports are important and you should always check that your CBD products have been tested — you should also reach for an award-winning brand that prioritizes purity and transparency.

so which brand should i trust?

Now that you understand how the Clean Label Project™ Purity Award works, you can make an informed decision on which CBD brand is best.

At the end of the day, CBD is only effective when you’re taking a high-quality product. Focus on finding an award-winning brand that makes their ingredients and sourcing methods accessible. When it comes to CBD, research pays off!
